A Dog Day Afternoon at Ashland State
Park
It was a lovely opening day at Ashland State Park today
as people launched boats, looked for their favorite fishing spots and just
enjoyed the sun-drenched day.
Ashland State Park is located right off of Route 135 in
Ashland. The park has 470 acres including the 157 acre Ashland
Reservoir.
It is notably early right now but when the season is
full swing the park can become a bit crowded; however, today it was quiet
and serene with the first few local people setting out to embark
on a leisurely day.
There are numerous points off of the reservoir that can be enjoyed by the
public during the summer months with beach areas of Ashland State
Park that are staffed with lifeguards. There is also a great
picnic area in the forest right next to the beach.
Bicycling and hiking trails also run through the forest and and the park
is wheelchair accessible.
With picnic tables, barbecue pits and crystal clear water,
Ashland State Park offers many pleasurable days during the spring
and summer months.
The park opens early in the morning and you can stay
until dusk. And, there is ample parking available for all.
With plenty of wildlife abound as a well as our domestic
friends, Ashland State Park is clearly not limited only to
human enjoyment.
